Purpose:
The Interfaith Coalition for Public Education is a network of citizens who are deeply concerned about the alarming dropout rate in the Santa Fe Public Schools. We believe that public involvement is critical to change. Our mission is to support quality public education so that every child realizes full potential from birth to career. The Coalition meets monthly to stay informed about our public schools and related educational collaboration. We welcome new members.
The Coalition focuses on two priorities: supporting student academic achievement needs and engaging the community to support public education. To advance these priorities, the Coalition provides a forum for activities such as: recruiting and coordinating a team of math tutors at Santa Fe High; researching and spotlighting educational issues through Education Talks, forums, media stories and advocacy; and mobilizing greater participation within the faith community and the community at large. All these activities are undertaken with the intention of cultivating relationships that promote collective impact and effectiveness. We gladly collaborate with other groups who share our concerns.
We seek to be
appreciative, supportive, catalytic, inclusive,
culturally sensitive, persistent, flexible, responsive
